We eft at daybreak. De Beer’s stallion leaped onto a pole in the stable and injured itself so badly that it cannot live. We arrived at De Fontein, the farm of Greef. Brisk north-west wind. In the morning the wind blew directly to the north-west and then to the south-east. This caused so much dust that we almost could not see.
Thermometer: 50 degrees 79 degrees dropping to 60 degrees.
