reed vroeg s’morgens na de plaats een uur gaans van daar Swarte riv: in Gamka loopt
zynde te voren door enen claasen bewoond, vond hier een wortel van een heuvel alles goede kalksteen.
reden savonds agtermiddag te paard na sleutel fontein vier uur heel sterk vonden de wagen weg, kregen hem een twe uur verder op trakas hoogte
spanden na drie uur rydens boven aan (so hiet dese plaats) trakas begin uit
vonden hier enige wagens van de Bruins hoogte uitgespannen.

Early in the morning rode one hour’s distance to the farm where the Swarte River runs into the Gamka, formerly inhabited by a certain Claasen. Found here the base of a hill that was all good limestone. Riding very hard for four hours we came to Sleutelfontein in the afternoon. We found the wagon gone and caught up with it at Trakashoogte an hour later. After three hour’s travel we outspanned at the top of Trakas as this place is called. We found some wagons from Bruintjeshoogte camped here. Includes Cango. All facing east.

Fine weather. Somewhat hot.
A strong S. by E. wind in the afternoon. Calm at night.

Saw some kudu.
