Monday the 19th
Went alongside the Baviaansberg and up the Platteberg and took bearings on everything. We saw many baboons. In shallow water at the end of the vlei our group shot 14 large springers with shotguns, some of them 2 foot long, which were fat and good to eat.
Good weather. Clear. Wind as before.
Thermometer: 70-82-78.
Found many shells in the cliffs but it is clear that these were brought by the Shore-Bushmen.
One finds them far into the interior, two or three hours from the sea, but none within hard rock or fixed into stones.
