de zee die hier digt op 15 treden by myn Observatorium desen nagt met hoog water sloeg maakte my wakker en allert dog sag dat ik op een duin was. nam brete, dewelke

onse vrienden losper en zyn vrouw van der byl en Smit, quamen desen middag by my in het observatorium eten.

14 Wednesday.
The sea, only fifteen paces close, struck up to my observatory last night at high tide, woke me and when I was alert saw, however, that I was on a dune
Took latitude which I found to be: 32 degrees 47 minutes 38 seconds
This afternoon our friends Losper and his wife, Van der Byl, and Smit came and ate with me in my observatory.

Cool weather beside the shore.
Thermometer: 68-80-75.
Southerly trade-wind beginning in the afternoon.
Measured the northern shore: 1250 roods straight to the Kleine Tafelberg to where the first bend begins.
