koele z o wind schoon weer, was besig om met de barometer proeven te doen, en de onbekende zebra, dewelke al voor enige maanden omgesworven had in en agter dese bergen, en den 29 door eenen adriaan van Jaarsveld geschoten was, te laten tekenen en examineren. kreegen donderweer na den middag, eerst uit den noorden en noordwesten komende een andere buy uit den z:o: die tegen elkanderen aantrokken, en uit den zuid oosten een sware regenbuy met wind voortbragt, continuerende die wind met regen vlagen den ganschen nagt, iets bedaart met den morgen.

Cool south-east wind, fine weather. Was busy making tests on the barometer, as well as having the unknown zebra drawn and examined. This had been wandering for some months in and behind these mountains and had been shot on the 29th by a certain Adriaan van Jaarsveld. We got thundery weather in the afternoon, first from the north and north-west, with another shower coming from the south-east. These came together and produced a heavy shower of rain with wind from the south-east The wind continued the whole night with gusts of rain, dying down a little in the morning.

On Potgieter’s farm the two barometer-tubes each gave 27 inches and 7½ tenths at 11 o’clock in the morning. The third was half empty and broke during the mending. The weather was at its most beautiful, with a cool south-east wind and with only two or three small clouds to be seen on the horizon.
