Clear weather. A fresh south-west wind in the afternoon.
Thermometer: 66 - 86 - 73.
Bearings at the Mr Golbag’s: middle of the Riebeeck’s Casteel mountains, north-east one degree north, three miles; middle-Paardeberg, south-south-east, one degree south.
The air here is much cooled by the south-east wind so that when it begins to blow in the afternoon the hottest time is in the morning between ten and eleven o’clock.
There is a hot spring at Mr Golbag’s, but it mingles with other cold springs. However I did note a difference of 3 degrees from one side of the basin to the other. The water was 90 degrees, the air 85 degrees.
Arrived at Andries Gouws's after four and a half hours. The same terrain.
