vond de swellendamse elf man tot escorte van de gouverneur by potgieter. en hoorde dat de boeren van den sneeuwbergen n van hier, gevlugt waaren voor de bosjemans en dat de caffers eenen Joubert hadden willen vermoorden, en hy zulks gewaar wordende s’nagts ontvlugt was.

Some rain at sunrise; south-east wind. Wind was west when it cleared up at 8 o’clock in the morning.
At Potgieter’s found the Governor’s escort of eleven men from Swellendam, and heard that the boers of the Sneeuberg north of here had fled before the Bushmen, and that the Caffres had wanted to murder a certain Joubert; but he, becoming aware of this, had escaped in the night.
