den ganschen nagt regen uit den s:o: klaarde met de middag.
vertr myn vorige reis coers na de Caffers, eerst z t o tot opperman daarna om sondags rivier hoger na het gebergte, o t z na enen Smit daar wy met den avond arriveerden by landrost rivier, alles in dit land klei zynde maakt de wegen met regen zeer glad. z:w: wind na den middag schoon weer term: van 59 tot 73 en d: tot 63.

The whole night rain from the south-

east It cleared up at noon.
Left on my previous journey’s route towards the Caffres, first south by east. to Opperman’s, thereafter round the Sondags River; and higher to the mountains, east bysouth, to a certain Smit (at Landrost River) where we arrived in the evening. There is clay everywhere in these parts, making the roads very slippery in rain. South-west wind in the afternoon; fine weather.
