Wilde hen or Tarantaals hen, of the Cape. It begins to be found some 100 hours from the Cape and they are numerous in the Camdeboo under [the Sneeuwbergen] and further inland.

This was a cock. The hen has a smaller hornlike crest, otherwise it is like the cock.
