Fine weather. Hot south-east wind. At noon the south-west sea-wind.

After an hour we rode through the dry Ate River, which comes from the west, from Koebee, Troetroe and Bidouw; and after five hours we rode past Van Zyl’s through the Oliphants River, which we found very low.
