Thermometer: 42-72-63.
North wind, somewhat hazy. Rain threatening but otherwise fine weather. Frost and dew last night.

Here we are only about three miles from Rodesants Sneeuwbergen. The wagons were taken across the river by ferry, I and my young Hottentot left on horseback for Mrs. Krieger’s at Piketberg. After four hours on horseback we arrived there. Feeling better. The Matjes River was not deep.
