Found the latitude of this farm to be 32 degrees 8 minutes 22 seconds Error: 23 degrees north-west
Took bearings on everything and collected the different kinds of stones.
My orderly Jansen came back in the evening with the horses., which gave me much pleasure as I couldn’t have waited for him and would thus have had to to into the Karoo without horses.

Great heat.
A strong east wind during the night coming from the thunder clouds beyond the defile through which the river runs. It flows at all times up to about an hour’s distance but then stands in pools except for the rainy season. Heard far-off thunder but, as on previous days, the wind got up and followed the course of the sun so that it stayed in and behind the Karoo, which we have to cross.
