met sons onder o.z.o. aan de Caro door elf uur min een quart; spanden met sons opgang omtrent de nu droge Jakhals font: sonder water of wei uit om de ossen te laten rusten

17 goed weer warm, weinig wind donder wolken in het n. sagen veel leeuw en gems bokke vers spoor dog geen dier dieren gesien.

At sunset east-south-east through to the Karoo in ten and three quarter hours. Outspanned at dawn near the now-dry Jakhalsfontein, where there is no water or pasture, in order to let the oxen rest.

Thermometer: 80-95-90
17 Good weather. Hot. Light wind. Thunder clouds in the north.
Saw many fresh lion and gemsbok tracks but saw none of these animals.

Reached the now-dry Wolvefontein by way of our old road from Geelbeksfontein.
