View of the Company’s outpost, called Rietvlei across the Buffeljags River, behind the Drostdy of Swellendam.

Place: Rietvlei, now known as Oupos, some sixteen kilometres east of Swellendam.
Date: Probably 21st October 1777
Gordon was at Rietvlei on 20th to 23rd October 1777, and again on 3rd March 1778.
