A. Dese ronde berg A bij de geldkisten, is de hoogste van dese Ketting Bergen, zijnde 1900 Rijnl. Voeten boven de opper vlakte der Zee. de anderen tot Muisenburg zijn omtrent 1700 Voeten hoog, en alleen maar langs dese zijde, de west zijde, tot bij de hout Baaij, is laag, dog word daar wederom hoog, tot dat dese Ketting, bij het Vlek de Caap, door de Steile Tafel Berg, de welke 3350 Voeten hoog is, Eindigt. De Poulus en Smitswinkel Bergen, Vertoonen sig als hanglippen.

N.B. Als men de aangewese route volgt, ziet men dat men seker het aambeeld en de twee wat digter leggende Klippen gepasseert en dus dit gevaar te boven is, wanneer de twee bergjes B. en C. in een geweest sijn.

B. en C. Wanneer men uit zee koomt, Schijnende de twee Bergjes B. en C. op een Eiland te leggen. N.B. 1. men kan wel tussen de vaste wal en de Blaasbalg en Ambeeld doorzeilen, dog zulks is gevaarlijk.
2. Wanneer men de hoek de Goede Hoop bij het ambeeld omgezeild is, moet men, vooral bij deinstig Weer, voorsigtig zijn, de hoek van de Duivelsberg niet voor de hoek van Muisenburg aantesien, het geen ligt geschied, doordien zij zig, dan als in een vertoonen, want dan vervalt men te diep in de Baaij en bij het Eiland.
3. de Witte Sandbergen bij de Vlagge Stok der Simonsbaaij, sijn meest. seer sigtbaar, en een goed baak om op aan te zeilen.
4. wanneer men te laat in dese baaij komt, dog een goed gesigt van de Wal heeft gehad, kan men bij goed weer gerust de boot met een Lantaren voor uit zenden, houdende deselve kraanbalks wijse aan bakboords zijde, met order, om , al lodende, aan de Oostzijde der Ark te blijven leggen, met de lantaren om hoog, waar bij men dan so digt passeren kan, dat men er met een Steen op werpen kan; dog die een boot commandeert, moet voorsigtig zijn, de Groote Vogel Klip niet voor de Ark aantesien. dog als men de Ark eens gesien heeft is hij ligt te kennen. de Vogel Klippen leggen ook seer digt bij de wal. N.B. tussen de Ark en vaste Wal door te zeilen is mogelijk, dog aller gevaarlijkst.

A. This round mountain, A, at the Geldkisten, is the highest of this chain of mountains, being 1900 Rhineland feet above sea-level. The others are about 1700 feet high up to Muizenberg and then only along this side; the west side unt to Hout Bay is low, but it then becomes high again until this chain ends at Cape Town in the steep face of Table Mountain, which is 3350 feet high. The Pauls and Smitswinkel Bays resemble pendulous lips.

N.B. If one follows the indicated route one sees for sure when one has passed the Anvil and the two more closely lying rocks that the danger comes to pass when the two hills, B and C are lined up.
B and C. When one approached from the sea, the two hills B and C seem to be situated on an island. NB. 1. It is possible to sail between the shore and the Bellows and the Anvil, but doing so is dangerous.
2. When Cape Point has been coubled at the anvil, one must be careful, particularly in hazy weather, to be careful not to mistake the corner of Devil's Peak for that of Muizenberg, which differs only slightly and because show themselves as one , for one then comes too far into the Bay and near the island
3. The white sandy mountains at the Simon's Bay flagstaff are mostly very visible, and a good beacon towards which to sail
4. If one enters this bay too late, and still has a good view of the shore, then one can safely send out a boat with a lantern in advance in good weather, keeping that boat on the port bow, with the order to stay on the east side of the Ark while taking soundings continuously and with the lantern on high, in which way one can pass it so closely that one could throw a stone onto it. Yet whoever commands the boat must be careful not to mistake the Great Bird Rock for the Ark. Yet when the Ark has once been seen, it is easy to recognise. The Bird Rocks are also situated close to the shore.. NB. It is possible to sail between the Ark and the shore, but hugely dangerous.
